Alton 8, McCluer North 7 – The Redbirds extended their season-long winning streak to four in a row with an eight-inning victory over the Stars in Godfrey. Alton is 16-14. North is 15-9.
Riley Phillips’ one-out RBI single drove in Charlie Erler, who singled to lead off the eighth inning for Alton. That capped a four-hit day for Erler, while Phillips had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Redbirds’ nine-hit offense. Jackson Brooks also drove in a pair of runs for Alton, which led 4-0 after one inning before the Stars came back to take a 6-5 lead.
Phillips pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up the win as the final of four Alton pitchers. North’s Desmond Woods took the loss.
