McCluer North 26, McCluer 24 • Stars coach Joe Brown recorded his first win in this contest at McCluer.
North (1-3) took the lead for good on a 54-yard run by Jaylen Jefferson midway through the third quarter.
Jefferson, who rushed for 199 yards on 31 carries, also scored on a 4-yard run in the second period to give his team a 19-6 lead at the break.
Munaaj Shahid recovered a fumble in the end zone to get the Stars off on the right foot in the opening period. Jacoby Jones also scored on a 2-yard run for the winners.
Seamus Brandham returned a kickoff 82 yards for the Comets. Jarius Vasser added a 95-yard punt return midway through the final quarter to get McCluer to within two points.
