The Stars played on the road on Saturday and went down in defeat 25 to 13 to the Wildcats of Hazelwood West as the Wildcats celebrated a big Homecoming win.  Both teams started out slow in the 1st quarter as both teams exchanged turnovers in the opening period. The Stars started a long drive that ended up at the Wildcats one yard line, but a Star fumble to start the 2nd quarter gave the ball back to Hazelwood West. With 8 mins left in the 2nd quarter Jaylen Jefferson hit Will Montgomery for a touchdown pass and Magie McGrellis added the PAT to give the Stars a 7-0 lead. Will Montgomery later added a INT playing DB as the Stars held off the Wildcats and took a 7-0 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats came of out the locker room and took the opening kick off and put together a long drive that resulted in a Wildcat TD. The PAT was missed and the Wildcats trailed the Stars now 7-6.  The score would remain 7-6 for the rest of the 3rd quarter. Wildcat QB McClain would lead the Wildcats to the lead with a TD pass with 4 min left in the 4th qt to give the Wildcats a 12-7 lead. Jaylen Jefferson, playing QB today for the Stars, took off on a 60 yd run to give the Stars the lead once again 13-12 after a failed 2pt attempt by the Stars with 1:20 left in the 4th qt. A big kick off return by the Wildcats gave them great field position and two great passes by McClain pushed the Wildcats back into the lead 18-13 in just 24 secs. PAT was no good and the Stars trailed again with :56 sec left 18-13. After the kickoff the Stars fumbled the ball in the endzone and the Wildcats recovered the football in the endzone for a 25-13 lead,which ended up being the final score. With the loss the Stars dropped to 1-5 on the year and the Wildcats pushed their record to 3-3. The Stars will travel to Eureka next Friday night for a 7 pm start time.
