The MNHS Freshmen team finished off a great weekend by winning the MNHS End of Year Classic Freshmen Boys Basketball Tournament to push their record to 22-1 on the year. The Stars dafeated the Spartans of Hazelwood East in the Championship game 44-36. This was the 2nd win over the Spartans this year after the Stars suffered their only loss on the year to the Spartans in the 1st round of the Cardinal Ritter Xmas Tournament. On Monday night the Stars jumped out to 8-3 1st qt lead behind Quintin Hall's two inside buckets.The Spartans closed the gap in the 2nd qt, but the Stars still held a 16-13 halftime lead. The Stars busted out the long range shooting in the 3rd qt knocking down four 3pt baskets against the Spartan zone defense. Demile Sanford tallied 7 pts in the qt as the Stars built their lead up to 40-27 heading into the final frame. Demile Sanford would go on to lead the Stars with 12 pts on the night and Quintin Hall added 8 pts in the big win. The trophy represented the 3rd trophy they have won this year with two now being 1st place plaques and a Consolation trophy.
