The first defeat of the girls basketball season for the Civic Memorial Eagles would not be followed by a second Tuesday night in Bethalto.
The Eagles pushed their record to 17-1 by beating the McCluer North Stars 57-38 in a nonconference game at CM. North, which lost to the Eagles 65-52 on Dec. 29 at the Jersey Tourney, drops to 9-7.
Saturday’s 51-48 loss at Highland cost CM the No. 1 ranking it held for one week in the Associated Press Class 3A state poll. The Eagles are ranked No. 5 in the latest poll released Tuesday.
